Hello,
new to this list.. running fujitsu lifebook e750 with core i3 and 6G. ~# uname -a FreeBSD hugo 10.0-CURRENT FreeBSD 10.0-CURRENT #22 r231133M: Tue Feb 7 18:12:28 CET 2012 root@hugo:/usr/obj/usr/src/sys/HUGO amd64 Problems are already posted by other people: - hal has to be kicked off - Xorg -configure fails ( detects 2 cards ) ... Number of created screens does not match number of detected devices. Configuration failed - Switching to text ttys does not work anymore - the same during shutdown, screen stays blank. Apart from this everything seems fine, no special graphic benchmarks but running kdm4 I can start kde4, gnome2 and xfce4 and all standard applications. Chrome feels pretty quick and Xorg CPU usage greatly reduced ( as expected ) Thanks very much to all people involved! Udo Lindemann PS There is a lot of dmesg output with some ii2c errors which I cannot interpret, if somebody is interested.... _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-x11 To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

New kernel compiled (thanks Meowthink and mike xx).
How do I tell if I'm "qualified" for the new Intel driver? The machine has 945GME video. _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-x11 To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

What is the best way to configure mouse in this release?
Is HAL support will be dropped in the future? BTW: server runns fine on Integrated Graphics Chipset: Intel(R) Q45/Q43. Because the instructions need a serious rewrite. Anyways, this fails for me. Building a kernel with ``options drm'' fails (with some undefined reference errors). Using an ``options drm''-free kernel, X fails to start due to ``(EE) RADEON(0): Kernel modesetting setup failed'', but there's also a notable ``(II) RADEON(0): Kernel too old missing accel information, assuming accel is working'' (does that imply that ``options drm'' has to be fixed before I should try anything else?). I have a /etc/X11/xorg.conf file containing ``Driver "radeon"''. If I remove the xorg.conf file, then I also get ``(EE) LoadModule: Module fbdevhw does not have a fbdevhwModuleData data object.''. I can add a stupid export entry to the fbdevhwstub.c file of the xorg-server port, to make that particular error go away, but I still get ``(EE) RADEON(0): Kernel modesetting setup failed''. I'm using a Radeon 9600 card. _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-x11 To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

I've run it for a while now and am actually having a pretty serious issue: http://thorn.visualtech.com/screenshot.jpg As you can see, that big window on the right monitor (though certainly doesn't limit itself to just that screen) is almost entirely corrupt. It's an xfce4 Terminal, though this can happen with nearly any window, and happens both with compositing enabled or disabled. Getting the window to redraw somehow (either by highlighting all the text or resizing it) will fix tha areas that are redrawn. The problem is most often triggered by moving the window around, or moving other windows around on top of it. Unfortunately, it makes X barely usable. [Add the mailing list as well]
I think there is issues with the KMS patch and radeon cards, the KMS patch is primarily for intel cards, but I'm not 100% sure. Can someone else please verify? Yes, I'm quite sure. This happens with xfce4, kde4 and just plain openbox. I've seen similar distortion (though not quite the same as what's in my screenshot) from the radeon driver even before testing this new version. I will, however, confirm these various corruptions with the radeon driver happen less with E17. I've also seen the same thing on OpenBSD. The distortion I've seen with the driver/Xorg from ports I've also seen on Slackware when disabling KMS, so I'm quite convinced this is a UMS-specific bug. Running on:
* Intel Sandybridge (+ optimus, disabled) on FreeBSD 9.0 * NVidia GTS 450 on FreeBSD 8.2 Not unkwonw problem. Usual problem on Intel Sandybridge (tty switch, KMS patch issues on FreeBSD 9 and optimus incompatibility (/dev/dri/card1)). Tested with KDE 4.7.4 and desktop effect activated. Not all effect are available using openGL. AFAIK KDE 4.8 is able to use more OpenGL effects using the same library. Thanks for the great job you've done! >The X11 Team is pleased to announce the next round of Xorg updates. Thank you all for your efforts. I've tried xorg_7_5_2 r420 on my testbox ("ATI Radeon X600 (RV370) 5B62 (PCIE)" running FreeBSD 9-stable/amd64 (r231557M) and driving dual displays via DVI) and (once I got past the build problems) all seems OK. Build problems with drm-all.13.0-stable9.1.patch: - Neither patch to sys/modules/drm/{drm,i915}/Makefile applied - apparently due to whitespace issues. - No patch to sys/conf/files was provided so building a kernel with drm builtin failed. A patch to correct this is attached. - device drm now depends on iicbus and i915drm appears to additionally depend on iicbb (I didn't try building this due to lack of hardware). I've done some simple tests - moving xterms between screens, playing video with mplayer, watching the Firefox 10 video and playing with various mesa-demos programs. Minor items: 1) graphics/mesa-demos remains at 7.6.1, rather than being upgraded to 7.11.2 with all the other Mesa code. 2) AIGLX is disabled by default, though xorg.conf(5) states it is enabled by default. This is probably a X.org Project bug and, checking back, 7.5.1 is the same 3) There's still no man page drm(4) -- Peter Jeremy |

Hi,
Any nifty patches for intel xorg-server 1.10.6 on 9-STABLE? (As it's default now on xorg_7_5_2 repo.) |

I don't know if this has been reported already, but libGL now requires
glproto as run dependency too: $ grep glproto /usr/local/libdata/pkgconfig/gl.pc Requires.private: glproto >= 1.4.11 libdrm >= 2.4.24 dri2proto >= 2.1 x11 xext xdamage xfixes xxf86vm x11-xcb xcb-glx I checked an old package, and this wasn't the case. As a result, pkgconfig fails on every package depending - even remotely - on gl.pc (thus breaking some builds - at least one for me): $ pkg-config --cflags swfdec-0.8 Package glproto was not found in the pkg-config search path. Perhaps you should add the directory containing `glproto.pc' to the PKG_CONFIG_PATH environment variable Package 'glproto', required by 'gl', not found Installing glproto fixes the issue. -- Alberto Villa, FreeBSD committer <[hidden email]> http://people.FreeBSD.org/~avilla _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-x11 To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |
