Superstitious users and the FreeBSD logo

I made a nice and "family-friendly" version. Here you have :P

this is really offending. I would have to give up on FreeBSD if this would become the logo.

Why do people feel offended by the 'little devil' but not by the stories written in a book called bible?

Is this the same logic why killing a person can be shown on TV but how the life of this person started cannot be shown?

Erich

I desperately hope that this is a joke... If so, it is very amusing, and nicely done.

I got a good laugh, and others should too. Stop being sticklers, it's
ridiculous.

I should have written at the beginning of my mail something like

That is both beatiful and funny as hell.  It should be available along
with the official artwork.

I almost fell out my chair laughing! I love the fact that the shadown
of the daemon is in the shiny little bubble.

ROFL! This should be part of the official collection of artwork.

If we used this, all we'd need to worry about is offending the atheists. ;-)

+1

So why not make the user choose which logo to use for FreeBSD, have
different versions of the website, CD-ROM/DVD kits, books, shirts and
other merchandise? ;-)

> If we used this, all we'd need to worry about is offending the atheists. ;-)

And jews, muslims, hindoes, buddhists ...

Christians are a minority in this world!

Seriously, this discussion led to the new logo a couple of years ago.
If you want to see horns in the two things sticking out of the sphere or
associate the color red with something evil, you can associate almost
any logo or symbol to something bad or evil in this world.

Wouldn't we be better off spending our time on making the operating
system of your choice even better?

Regards,

Paul Schenkeveld

Even better, colour it golden, and you can get the Harry Potter
constituency on-board too..

You beat me to it.  I was just going to chime in with a remark to that
effect, that as an atheist, I find this deeply offensive.  :-)

This could easily wind up like that "South Park" episode where they
tried to stage a perfectly "politically correct" Christmas pageant
that would offend absolutely no one, and wound up doing exactly the
opposite instead (offending everyone).  :-)

And make the head football-shaped, to win over fans of Stewie
