Hi,
does the X server which currently ships with FreeBSD support the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD? thanks Markus -- Markus Hoenicka http://www.mhoenicka.de AQ score 38 _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-mobile To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

You can download and install it with the ports (or packages) system, but that's the default one that the X.org project ships, it's not freebsd's. > I've installed FreeBSD on quite a few boxen, so I'm well aware of ports and packages. I'll rephrase my question then: does the intel driver which is currently available in the ports collection (xf86-video-intel 2.7.1_3) support Intel's GMA 4500MHD? I'm quite confused with Intel's chipset terminology and with the driver's man page, so I'd appreciate if someone who happens to have said chip in his notebook confirmed that it works. thanks Markus -- Markus Hoenicka http://www.mhoenicka.de AQ score 38 _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-mobile To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

I'm using WindowMaker as WM - and it runs fine in in its native LCD resolution (1366 x 768) - haven't ever used/tried the external display adapter. According to the specs from Acer it contains the chipset you mention - please check this link: http://support.acer.com/acerpanam/notebook/2009/acer/aspire/Aspire1410-11.6/Aspire1410sp9.shtml Is there anything that I should try out for you ? This is very kind of you. If you're unsure, just post the xorg.conf section named "Device". This is enough to see which driver you use. regards, Markus -- Markus Hoenicka http://www.mhoenicka.de AQ score 38 _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-mobile To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

There may not be an xorg.conf. /var/log/Xorg.0.log will be there, and tell more about what's happening. _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-mobile To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |

The log indicates that Xorg uses the intel driver for the GMA 4500MHD chip without any problems. regards, Markus -- Markus Hoenicka http://www.mhoenicka.de AQ score 38 _______________________________________________ [hidden email] mailing list http://lists.freebsd.org/mailman/listinfo/freebsd-mobile To unsubscribe, send any mail to "[hidden email]" |
